This is the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the home of the Toronto Blue Jays.
We got some awesome polish sausages outside of the ball park from a street vendor.
The Rogers Centre is only of the only dome stadiums left in the MLB.
As a result of being a dome stadium, they play on Astroturf. It looks interesting and makes for a unique playing surface. The ball takes funny hops and is very difficult for opposing teams to play on.
The Rogers Centre boasts the fastest grounds crew. These guys literally run out to their area, change the bases, rake the dirt and run back to the outfield fence. They must get a prize if they are the first one through the door. Otherwise they take a lot of pride in their work. Since the game went 14 innings, we got to see them twice.
We got upper deck tickets because they were cheap. We sat in the first row and it actually wasn’t a bad seat. No need to get tickets before the game here…it never sells out. They don’t even tell you the attendance during the game because it is so bad. They do take security very seriously. They check your tickets closely, so you can’t sit in the lower level with an upper deck ticket. They also kicked out two groups of loud drunk people.
The White Sox lost on a walk-off home run in the 14th inning by ex-Cub Corey Patterson. The Jays are celebrating at home plate. Overall we had a good time at the game and saw a lot of offense. The Jays fans were pretty nice and let us cheer for the Sox without much ridicule.
