On Monday of our trip we went to the Charlotte Knights AAA baseball game. They are an affiliate of the White Sox. Ironically the stadium was located in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
They played the Iron Pigs from Lehigh Valley. They are an affiliate of the Phillies.
They were running a promotion where a buffet was included in the price of the game ticket. It worked out perfectly to have ballpark food without the ballpark prices. They even had shelled peanuts. You can’t go to a baseball game without peanuts. There was a cool picnic area that actually was a pretty good seat for the game.
Former Cub great, Ryne Sandberg, #23, coached the Iron Pigs. Scott Podsednik, #2, played for the White Sox when they won the World Series. Since the Knights are associated with the White Sox, a number of players have played with the Sox in the last few years. A couple have already played with the Sox this year because of injuries.
Unfortunately, the Knights lost 0-3, but it was still fun.
Of course, there was a family photo to mark the event!
